People in every community in the country are affected by the housing emergency. This is a crisis that has deep roots, and it will take time, commitment and political will to change.   HAPN exists to provides an honest platform, where we discuss the realities on the ground for a long-term plan. With the impetus of direct grant funding, a new draft National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and greater certainty around rent stability should help social housing providers plan with certainty. This package of reforms is an opportunity to get millions of pounds worth of projects moving, with real-world impact on housing quality and availability, infrastructure and growth industries. It should also ensure that policies to drive pensions capital into productive assets have maximum benefit on the ground, and on savers’ returns.   This year, HAPN sets the agenda for seizing new opportunities for existing stock and building affordable better-quality homes, as it looks back to reflections of the past and sets the stage for the future. Addressing how we can work with the new government and local councils, rebuilding trust in the new planning system, providing an open forum that ensures our industry’s voice is heard.
